I no longer have the app, but a couple of years ago I was working at a veterinary clinic, and my parents called me, bc they thought my shift ended at 6, but it was really 7. So they check my location and at some point in the day I had allegedly been at a house about miles away from my job.
I was allegedly there for 10 minutes and then returned to my job. Later there was a news report that there were two people dead in that house, a male and a female, and that animal services were involved.
So they started freaking out and instead of calling my job to see if I was there, they ended up stalking my car in the parking lot. Not only was this extremely stressful for them, I was left in shock at the inaccuracy. This would happen several times. And the school I went to had better security.
Before this app I was already afraid to come to my parents but this app was the final straw. When I got a boyfriend in my senior year i was 17 almost an adult. My point is your kid will find ways to be sneaky and lie in ways they may not have before if you give them your trust. Trust them and they will trust you. Also this lack of trust was extremely hurtful considering I was a really good kid I have never been to a party or snuck out of the house so they had no reason to mistrust me.
I personally have never had to deal with my parents having this app and forcing its usage upon me, I just quickly downloaded it to leave the 1star review to help everyone out. My mom does have my location through find my iPhone and I even question why that is necessary sometimes. Life completely takes away a teenagers life.
We should be entitled to the same opportunities and experiences that our parents had. You have to trust that you did a good job raising your kid and trust THEM to make the right decisions.
You have to allow your kids to make their own mistakes just like you did. By downloading life you completely take the trust away before the teenager is even given a chance to prove it.
