The only real question is: which cookie is the best? Girl Scouts sell 16 different types of cookie, and everyone has a favorite and an argument to explain why it's the best. And that got me thinking Breaking down the bakers.
There are two bakeries that make Girl Scout Cookies. New Jersey is one of the rare states that gets supplied by both. Why does this matter? Both bakeries make six of the same cookies with slight differences, including names. The bakeries have several of their own unique cookies as well.
Savannah Smiles. You feel that? Way too sweet, way too tart. Courtesy of Little Brownie Bakers. S'Mores Little Brownie Bakers. The graham cookie is gritty and somewhat cloying, the chocolate is a little off.
The marshmallow is probably better than the ABC version, but the cookie still gave me a bad aftertaste that I struggled to shake. Not bad for a gluten-free cookie, but nothing to write home about. Nice buttery flavor, but the texture is dry and not very pleasant. The toffee bits could be crunchier, and would add to overall mouth-feel yes, we are talking Girl Scout cookie mouth-feel.
Like fine wine. Get over it. It tastes good. Not really. The chocolate is a little off, it tastes almost minty. Peanut Butter Sandwiches. Basically a peanut butter Oreo. If not, skip to the next cookie. I had never even heard of these cookies, and I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty comparable to the peanut butter patties. Maybe a little thinner, but similar crunch.
Peanut Butter Patties. Crunchier than I remember, but definitely tasty. The chocolate is better than most of the chocolate in these cookies and the peanut butter is flavorful but not overpowering. Not wild about the texture. The icing is about the same, but the texture of the cookie is just so much nicer and makes for a way more enjoyable eating experience. These cookies are incredibly overlooked because they don't look fancy or crazy. They just taste good. A nice crunch, pleasant vanilla flavoring.
Excellent in milk. The vanilla flavoring is a richer as well. The most overlooked Girl Scout Cookie, in my humble opinion. Caramel deLites. I love this cookie. Coconut, caramel and chocolate is a ridiculous combination that comes together beautifully to make this the most unique Girl Scout concoction. The texture isn't quite as good as the Little Brownie version, which is really the only thing wrong with it.
Thin Mints Little Brownie Bakers. These are delicious. Maybe some would prefer that, but I want as much mint in my Thin Mint as possible. Still, there's a reason they're this high. They're really good. I can already hear the groans. How are Thin Mints not No. Yes, they may be the most popular cookie, but they're not the best. They're minty, chocolately and delicious. And you can get something similar all year — chocolate mint, or "grasshopper" cookies have become immensely popular.
Love Thin Mints, they're just not No. The most delicious and most unique cookie Girl Scouts have to offer. Whoever thought to combine coconut, caramel and chocolate on a cookie deserves a Nobel Prize. In what field? Who cares, eat a Samoa. They're amazing. Love the texture, love the flavor. Love everything. Jeremy Schneider may be reached at jschneider njadvancemedia. Find NJ. All rights reserved About Us.
