Witcher 3 Family Matters Investigate All Remaining Leads In Velen
Activate your Witcher Senses and follow the items that are marked with red. There are six items in the room that help out. In the end, you surmise that a brawl took place in the chamber. There is a scent of wine in the air that you can follow down the stairs, about half way.
Beneath a floorboard is a tailsman. As you're inside the room, look for the doll by the bed, the letter on the dresser, along with the incense and a key in the wardrobe. Grab the items and go talk to the baron. It sounds like his wife, Anna, went to see a local Pellar for the talisman. Inspect her room to learn a little more about her stay and time with Gretka.
When you finish talking to Gretka, the mission is complete. Super easy side quest. With the goat safely returned, the Pellar uses magic to dig up more truths about the Bloody Baron and his family. From a distance, you should see that a part of the fort is on fire! Ride back up to the fort and check it out. Phillip has gotten roaring drunk and lit his own stables on fire. The stable boy is trapped inside.
If you save the boy before dealing with the baron, you will get a reward later on. Just climb the ladder and open the door inside. With the stables cleared, confront the baron and beat him to a pulp. After beating some sense into Phillip, the truth comes out.
He beat his wife when he was drunk and caused the miscarriage. When Phillip found the stillborn, he quietly and quickly buried the baby.
It turned into a Botchling and is out for the blood of its family. The two of you need to find the Botchling and either kill it for its blood or turn it into a Lubberkin, which is a nice version of the monster. When you arrive at the grave with Phillip, you need to decide how you want to deal with the Botchling. The wife is missing, but his daughter, Tamara, is in northeast Velen in Oxenfurt.
If you decide to visit Tamara, call your horse and ride the long way to Oxenfurt. The Baron will give you a pass in order to get into the city. Once inside visit the brother's house and talk with Tamara. After talking with Tamara fast travel back to the Baron and fill him in on what happened. After completing Ladies of the Wood , return to Baron Strengar and tell him what you've learned about his wife to complete the quest. From here, Geralt can either follow the Baron in the side quest Return to Crookback Bog , or continue his search for Ciri in the main quest Pyres of Novigrad.
Last Edited: 2 Mar pm. Slay the Botchling as quick as you can then take the blood to the Pellar. You will need to protect him during a ritual from Wraiths. During the ritual, you need to keep three flames burning to prevent Wraiths from being summoned.
Use Igni to keep them going. Twice on the walk back you will be attacked by a group of Wraiths that the Botchling summons. Use Axii to stun them, then follow up with heavy attacks. At the end of the fights, cast Axii on the baron to calm the Botchling. Note: You have the chance to challenge the Bloody Baron to a game of Gwent and win a card from him.
This opportunity may not be available later in the game, so don't put it off if you're a completionist. Was this guide helpful? YES NO. In This Wiki Guide.

Problem with objective on main story

Family Matters quest, where do I go now?
It involves a few steps - from finding the Talisman location to exploring Ciri's Room , and eventually, the Pellar's Hut location. There's also the case of having to investigate all remaining leads in Family Matters - which though might come later, is something we can help solve on this page. Now that you and the Bloody Baron have made it upstairs, you'll need to search some rooms to move to the next part of the story. Go to the room ahead of you first, once inside use your Witcher Senses to have a look around. There are lots of things to loot, so fill your pockets before investigating the empty space on the right-hand wall. Next up is the painting near the back of the room on the right-hand side. Investigating this will lead you to examine the furniture on the other side of that small wall, and the story will become a bit clearer. Now you have to go and take a look at the candlestick on the table near the front of the room. You'll then have to follow a scent trail using your Witcher Senses. You can check out Tamara's room if you'd like to grab a bit more loot and some more backstory too.
Family Matters... Now what?
Spoilers for this quest but I'm currently doing the quest Family Matters. I've found the daughter, turned the botchling into a lubberkin, and now to get the rest of the information about Ciri I need to find the Baron's wife. The problem is all the quest says it "investigate all remaining leads in velen". That's it, not a location, not a person to talk to, nothing.
